Aer Indes: 200 hp, zero-emission motorcycle concept

KTM, Zero Motorcycles, Motoczysz - just a few from those old/new manufacturers who started to produce electric two-wheelers in the last couple of years. The electric motorcycles clearly moves the young designers mind, too. This concept belongs to design student Andre Look. The designer used hi-tech materials for the frame and bodywork, four motors and batteries that can swapped in seconds, the bike's power output is 200hp. A secondary motor housed within the swingarm boosts power by a further 25hp. Read the full article »

Video: Aprilia is poking BMW in the eye with the RSV4 Factory

Remember this video from the spring? BMW showed a trick with its supersport machine S1000 RR, a table and some dishes. Aprilia has now released an official response to that. The italians are clearly poking BMW in the eye with this video, in which their motto is: "Tricks are not our talent. Winning is. "Aprilia doubles in the World Superbike at Miller Motorsports Park, Monza and Portimao, while BMW's best result was a 3rd place. Read the full article »

New Vespa GTV Via Montenapoleone revealed

Vespa introduced his new limited edition GTV Via Montenapoleone scooter. The special edition motorcycle interprets the elements of style more tipical of the 50's. Apart from that, the Vespa has an ultra modern engine with electronic fuel injection and a monocoque body. The exclusive version draws its inspiration from the world of fashion and art, and its name "Via Montenapoleone" is a clear reference to the elegance that distinguishes Vespa. Read the full article »

New Kawasaki ZX-10R 2011 with teaser video

With the BMW S1000 RR the japanese manufacturers got a new, serious competitor in the superbike category so it's no news that Kawasaki will completely redesign its ZX-10R for 2011. The new bike will feature an all-new engine, chassis and suspension with a complete styling makeover. Rumours suggest the four-cylinder engine will be capable of 190 hp, so the bike will be insanely fast. Ferrari F1 man Alonso given Ducati Desmosedici dream bike

Ferrari and Ducati are tied together in more than one ways, so it doesn't bother Ferrari that the motorcycle manufacturer gave him a Desmosedici RR with personaized paint job that’s a mix between the Ferrari and Ducati liveries. Alonso's bike, numbered 1175 of an exclusive run of 1500 machines, was recently handed over to the former F1 champion. The spanish driver currently ranks fourth in 2010 Formula One World Championship standings, with 94 points. Read the full article »

Mikhail Smolyanov is a talented russian designer who is also known as Solif. This is another of his new designs, a steampunk chopper that Solif designed in 3D Max. Royal Enfield doubles production capacity

Not every motorcycle company is slowing down after the credit crunch, british marque Royal Enfield is set to double production capacity in their Chennai plant in India. The move is necessary because of the stronger-than-expected worldwide demand for its new fuel-injected product line. Production at Royal Enfield has been running at full capacity for over a year, with demand generated by domestic and international markets continuing outpace supply. The expansion plan forecasts unit production growth from 2010 unit volume of 52 000 to as much 70 000 units for 2011, followed by up to 90 000 units for 2012 and finally 100 000 units or more for 2013. Read the full article »

Renard – a new motorcycle manufacturer has born in Estonia

Estonia is a little country in North East Europe, and it's famous for its...well, nothing. A new company, Renard Motorcycles tries to change that. The estonian engineers designed a composite monocoque chassis that houses the airbox, gas tank and oil reservoir. The engine comes from a Moto Guzzi V2, while the fairing is familiar from the Wraith concept. It looks like the company is actually to produce a handful of these in an attempt to raise investment. The eventual plan calls for production capped at 100 units a year, each retailing for €75,000. Exclusivity won't be a problem. Read the full article »
