Robb Report named the BMW S 1000 RR the best sportbike in its annual “Best of the Best” issue in June. In July, Cycle World awarded the model “Best Superbike for 2010”, and the editors of Motorcyclist chose the S 1000 RR for its coveted “Motorcycle of the Year” award. Pieter de Waal, Vice President of BMW Motorrad USA says: “It is a tremendous honor to receive this type of recognition from these well-respected publications. The positive response we’ve had from the motorcycling community reaffirms our commitment to continually raise the bar for performance and value in this competitive market segment.” According to editors of the Robb Report, “the BMW S 1000 RR is perhaps the greatest motorcycle-branding success story of the last 10 years. From the moment that the S 1000 RR made the leap from the drafting board to the showroom floor, the sportbike transformed existing perceptions of the Bavarian brand, winning over a new generation of enthusiasts.”

The S 1000 RR weighs just 404 lbs and delivers 193hp, and with its $13,800 price tag, the base model is cheaper than some of its Japanese equivalents. In addition to the class-leading performance, the S 1000 RR has brand new features, such as the first genuine racing ABS, dynamic traction control which permits varying degrees of slip.
