Victory sales up 48% according to parent company Polaris Industries’ Q2 2010 report. Victory motorcycles recorded $15.5 million in sales over the second quarter compared to $10.5 million during the same period last year. In North America, sales were up 10% over last quarter despite the weak market for heavyweight cruisers and touring motorcycles. The Japanese manufacturer announced the 2011 KLX 125 and D-Tracker 125 models, which Kawasaki says are ideal for new riders. The two entry-level models got only minor aesthetic restyling. Both the dual-purpose KLX 125 and motard-style D-Tracker feature a simple and reliable 125cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine and a lightweight, compact chassis. Read the full article »
Remy International, Inc. announces that its subsidiary, Remy Electric Motors, LLC, has entered into an agreement with MotoCzysz LLC to bring a revolutionary, new generation electric drive system to market. The new generation electric drive system will use Remy’s patented High Voltage Hairpin (HVH) electric motor technology and patent-pending cooling and integration technology from MotoCzysz. The NCR Leggera 1200 Special is reportedly the lightest Hypermotard ever made – shedding an unbeliveable 57kg from the already minimal Ducati. The Italian streetfighter got a handful of modifications, including full titanium frame, ceramic-carbon brakes and carbon-fibre bodywork. The MotoGP race at Philipp Island in 2009 was one of Casey Stoner’s best we’d seen, the Australian won in front of his home crowd. Making the moment even more special for the fans, Stoner had a special race livery. French Ducati dealership hopes to commemorate that race with a limited number of Casey Stoner’s Ducati 1198S Philippp Island Replicas. The French Ducati dealer added some top Ducati Performance parts and a full Titanium Ducati Corse 70mm Termignoni exhaust system to the bike, while the special race livery costs €1900. The 2011 ZX-10R will make its debut this October, but the guys at theJapanese manifacturer continue to leak details over the Internet. The BMW S1000 RR made a spectacular entry into the supersport class last year, but the Japanese manufacturers don’t like the idea that the Bavarians steal their customers, so Kawasaki is going to strike back with a strongly revised ZX-10R for 2011. Tha Austrian company is hard work on its new 125cc streetbike, which still needs a name. This model will be the first of the manufacturer’s new range of 125 to 300cc entry level street bikes. Scorpion has announced the launch of a new helmet model, the EXO 750, which features the company’s fiberglass/kevlar matrix shell technology, but it is also fitted with the new AirFit internals from the top-of-the-line EXO 1000. Leslie Porterfield is one of the fastest women in the world, he already set a new world record at Bonneville Salt Flats, clocking 201mph in the 1000cc Production Class. But the young Texan isn’t satisfied, she is now hoping to top 254mph in the modified class on her Sir Speedy Honda. She says: "I have dreamed of setting records. Ever since I bought my first motorcycle at 16, I have believed that I would become the fastest person in the world. Photo finish is the worst nightmare of sprinters and motorcycle racers for a good reason. AMA Pro Racing had to use this photo finish to decide who won Race 1 of the Daytona Sportbike series at Virginia International Raceway this weekend. The two riders are Bobby Fong (#30) and Martin Cardenas (#36). At the end, Fong won but the margin was only 0,001 seconds. Can You make the call who won? Read the full article »
