The Collector’s Motorcycles and Related Memorabilia from Bonhams was held in Stafford UK yesterday. One of the most interesting machines of the show was a URS sidecar from 1967. The unique post-war machine featured a 500cc four-cylinder engine and won the Sidecar World Championship in 1968. The bike was expected to command between $110,000 and $125,000 at Bonhams annual sale but achieved a staggering $163,000. The machine was ridden by the legendary Helmuth Fath. Read the full article »

Reportedly, demand for the Royal Enfield Bullett has been growing sharply in the US and world-wide since the introduction of the new Royal Enfield engine two years ago, which bought a new level of performance and reliablility. The Piaggio Group presented the revised versions of its popular scooters, the Typhoon 50 and 125 at the Intermot 2010. Typhoon is a bit of flagship for the Italian brand and for 2011, and they are going to be even better for 2011. The 50cc and the 125cc versions will get more powerful engines, a revised design and flashy graphics. The smaller version has a 2-stroke engine which delivers a respectable 4.2hp at 6500rpm and 4.6Nm at 6000rpm. The 125cc version features a more advanced, Euro-3-compliant 4-stroke engine which priovides 9.6hp and 8.2Nm. Read the full article »

Honda released an official sketch which shows a new adventure bike. The Japanese manufacturer will bring a new 1200cc concept bike to the EICMA show next month, and rumours suggest the new sketch is based on this machine. The concept will most likely to feature the VFR’s 1200cc V4 engine and will have an exclusive, sporty design. If Honda builds a new model with this engine, it will have to be lighter and sportier than the overhyped, heavy VFR. The concept will be shown in the upcoming EICMA show in Milan. The Swedish company introduced two new models – the SMS 4 Supermoto and the TE 125 enduro machine. The bikes, aimed at young fans, have race-bred looks and surprisingly high spec components. Both bikes have the same chassis and engine, the biggest difference is the tire size – the SMS 4 features 17-coll tires, while the TE125 has 21-coll front wheel and 18-coll rear wheel. The chassis of the two new models is a monobeam in Cr-Mo steel with a circular cross section and rear seat rail. Read the full article »

After all sorts of spy shots and official teaser videos we have got the genuine photos of the new Triumph Tiger 800. The bike will have two versions, the standard 800 and the 800XC. On the pictures, we can see the off-road version, the XC, which features 21-inch front wheel with knobby tires and extended front mudguard. The bike will be powered by the Daytona 675’s engine displacing 800cc. The little Tiger will weight about 440lbs and the engine will produce a little less power and a little more torque than the Daytona’s 124hp and 53lb/ft. Read the full article »

Triumph has released two new videos showing their latest bikes, including Tiger 800, Speed Triple, America, Speedmaster and Thunderbird Storm as well as an unknown bike. Rumours suggest that this is Triumph’s newest sports bike, dubbed the Daytona 675R. This could be a tuned version of the standard 675 which will feature higher spec suspension, brakes and meaner looks. The small German helmet maker introduced its newest high-end product, the SR1. The new helmet is incredible light – the medium sized version weighs just 1285g -, and has just 88db of noise level at 62mph. Being developed in the wind tunnel means that the SR1 has outstanding aeroacoustics - a prerequisite for concentration while riding. The helmet shell consists of S.T.R.O.N.G. fibre, a special glass fibre reinforced duroplastic matrix, and is produced in three helmet shell sizes. The Italian firm confirmed yesterday its new muscle cruiser, called the Diavel. The motorcycle will make its debut at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan 2-7 November. The manufacturer says the Diavel (pronounced Dee-ah-vel) will „take the man-motorcycle relationship to the next level in absolute comfort.” The machine weighs 456lbs and features ABS, traction control and Ducati Riding Modes. At the heart of the „devil” is a 1200cc Testastretta V-twin which power figures are still unknown. Read the full article »
