Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo crowned his MotoGP World Championship with a win at the final round in Valencia on 7th November, wearing an extremely special version of the X-Lite X-802 helmet. It caused a sensation around the MotoGP paddock and the globe and, to celebrate Jorge’s stunning year, X-Lite will be producing a very limited number of hand-crafted replicas. The Lorenzo Valencia is finished in eight layers of paint, the lustrous finish due to the careful impregnation of gold pigment.

The Porfuera symbol on top – which translates as ‘on the outside’ – is picked out with approximately 1800 hand-laid Swarovski crystals, just as on Jorge’s original. Each complete helmet takes 96 hours of dedicated work by skilled artisans to produce, and will come complete with special presentation packaging plus, of course, the World Champion’s signature. Every single one will be be produced to order, with an RRP of €10,000. A deposit of €2,000 is required for each commission and lead time is expected to be around two months. Sizes available are XS-XXL.

The X-802 is a helmet developed for MotoGP competition; it features three sizes of outer shell and has an ASD (Adjustable Stability Device) built in to aid stability at speed and extract hot air from the interior. The front integrated aerodynamic vent, side air extractors, direct entry front air intake and indirect entry upper air intake all work together with the ASD to maintain comfort. The visor of the X-802 has an impressively wide field of vision and a superbly fluid mechanism, and the triple-density removable cheek pads utilise STEADYFIT, ensuring comfort and security even at the pressure high speeds bring. The original X-802 that Lorenzo wore at Valencia will be at this year’s Carole Nash Motorcycle Live event, which run from 27 November to 5 December at the NEC Birmingham.
