The three-wheeled scooter concept is not new, Piaggio has the popular MP3 models in its lineup but a young Italian manufacturer has come up now with a brand new, four-wheeled scooter concept. The Quadro 4D will be the first vehicle of its kind on the market. The combination of four wheels positioned closely together and the hydraulic tilting technology allow this unique vehicle a range of performance not yet paralleled in the industry—think stairs, curbs, potholes are no obstacle. Its release is expected fall 2011. The 4D is powered by a 500cc single-cylinder engine which delivers 40hp. The bike is able to reach a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph) and will carry a price tag of €9,000 ($12,200).
But the 4D won’t be the only Quadro on the street. Called the 3D, the little brother of the 4D has „only” three wheels and a 350cc single-cylinder engine. Though most of the details are still being kept under wraps, it has been reported that the Quadro 3D will weigh 194kg dry, and the Quadro 4D will weigh around 240kg dry. The first bike to go on sale will be the Quadro 3D, followed by the Quadro 4D. There will also be hybrid/electric variants and an off-road machine as well.
