Izh was a large Soviet motorcycle factory before the fall of the USSR, with a production even more massive than the Imz-Ural. The motorcycle production started in 1927, when Russian engineer P. V. Mozharov designed the Izh-1. The bike featured a 1200cc V-twin (placed transversally, Moto Guzzi-style) and three-speed gearbox. The 2012 Izh Concept was drawn by Igor Chak, a young Russian designer.

The design of the bike has a very smooth and aerodynamic feel but also shows its domination with weight. The massive, strong front smoothly translates to a lighter rear. Power comes from a 849cc V-twin generating 140 hp. 50% of the engine is made of heat resistant plastic. The engine has an automatic fuel-regulating system to get the best mpg. In addition to that, there is a brushless 60 kW electric motor built in the rear rim. The power to the electric motor comes from a Lithium Sulfide battery (Li2S) that is located at the rear of the engine. The Li2S batteries hold four times the energy of Lithium ion batteries.

The Izh Concept features dual airbag. The front airbag (currently patent pending) takes about 50% of the hit and keeps the bike stable. Meanwhile, the main airbag catch the riders shoulders, blocking the body from moving forward. The Izh is also equipped with proximity regulating radar system, front facing onboard camera, 3D LCD display, GPS navigation, Wi-Fi and 4G.
