After introducing a new engine and gearbox in the last couple of years, Royal Enfield is charting a new growth curve with more new models, larger displacement engines and new factory. The Indian manufacturer decided to set up a new facility that would take care of the company’s requirements for the next 10 years. Besides this, Royal Enfield is also planning to ramp up its capacity at the Chennai plant. The company is looking for new export countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia but that’s not the biggest news.
Indian magazine NDTV reports that Royal Enfield is working on a twin-cylinder 750cc and 1-litre engine. There’s no official confirmation as to whether the bikes will be v-twins or parallel twins. “If the drawing board plans can be executed with perfection, its loyal customers will love every ride even more,” said Vaishali Jajoo, an auto analyst at Angel Broking. NDTV also reports that the manufacturer plans to sell 100,000 units in a few of years. According to the source, the new large-displacement bike will be seen in 2013.
