Two-time World Motocross Champion Steve Ramon raced to victory at last weekend’s Berk-Sur-Mer Beach Race in France, the opening event of five in the French Sand Racing Championship.

RM-Z450-mounted Ramon qualified third on Saturday, but was on top of his game on Sunday. A good start in race one saw him rounding the first corner in third place, but he worked his way into the lead after the first two laps. In the second race the Belgian pulled the holeshot and led the race from start to finish, followed by the 2013 Champion Adrien Van Beveren and Yentel Martens.

The last race of the day, the Superfinal, saw a repeat and Ramon was able to build-up a comfortable lead on the now heavily-rutted track.

Said Ramon: “Yes, it went pretty good today and I’m quite happy about this result. I had good starts in all the races, giving me a good momentum during the race. The third heat was quite difficult as, after all the different heats and classes, the track started to get incredibly rough. It’s a good start for this season and I’m looking forward to the next race at Loon-Plage.”
