Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s James Stewart returned to racing in spectacular fashion by winning the inaugural Red Bull Straight Rhythm Championship at the weekend.

Stewart put his new Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 through its paces, winning every race to take the overall win at Pomona Auto Club in Pomona, California, on Saturday afternoon. This performance marks the first victory for the 2015 Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450.

Despite the sweltering 105-degree Southern California heat, Stewart was in top- form for the event: Set-up in a drag-racing-style format, the two-man races saw riders go head-to-head down the 3,000-foot-long rhythm section. The straight course was laid-out on the Pomona drag strip and included 80 jumps and a 300-foot whoop section; ideal for Stewart and his Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450, who was blisteringly-fast all day and won every race to take the overall win and title.

Said Stewart: “This was an awesome event. I was able to qualify first on the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450. It was definitely nice to be able to come-out and race; it’s been a while. I learned a lot about the new 2015 RM-Z and we were able to get some things figured-out between races. The new bike’s really fast and it was great to get a chance to race it in a unique event like this and to take the overall win. This just makes me more excited about racing Supercross in 2015.”

Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s next race will be the 2014 Monster Energy Cup on Saturday, October 18, at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
