The guys at MINI got one thing right this time: the scooter is actually mini. It’s foldable so you can pack it and carry it in your car or even bus and train. With 18 kg, it’s lightweight, too. The auxiliary electric drive is integrated into the rear wheel. The Citysurfer is capable of doing 25 km/h (15 mph), the power supply is integrated into the frame. Charging is possible via 12-volt automobile socket or household socket; charging during travel by means of brake energy regeneration when brake is activated. The Citysurfer features a battery management system with integrated power electronics; range:15 to 25 kilometers (10 – 15 miles).

The little scooter has large wheels with pneumatic tires also make it suitable for bumpy paths, low foot board, stable frame and height-adjustable handlebars. It has three brake systems which operate independently of each other; recuperation brake via electric drive generator function and hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear wheel. Deceleration is excellent since there are no limits to the rider in shifting the center of gravity. In order to fire up the motor, you have to start riding the scooter under foot power alone. Once you reach a certain speed, the electric motor kicks in – you can control it by a thumb trigger accelerator. There’s also a smartphone mount for those that want to access a navigation app or keep the handset’s battery topped up.
