Recursion was a turbocharged concept motorcycle shown by Suzuki at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Show and it was one of the best looking bikes Suzuki has come up with in a while. Reports from Japan now suggest that there is a production version in the works. It should be a lightweight, middleweight-sized machine powered by a turbocharged 588cc parallel twin. Is this the new SV650?
A Japanese magazine has released photos of a new Suzuki middleweight bike what appears to be a production version of the Recursion Concept. The bike is small in stature and weighs only 174 kg dry (it features an aluminum frame). According to leaked documents, the turbocharged parallel twin chunks out 100 hp at 8,000 rpm and 73 ft-lb at only 4,500 rpm. Due to these performance and torque figures, the production version could even compete in the 600cc supersport category. Forced induction is apparently the new magic word in the industry, just check out the Kawasaki Ninja H2 and H2R. Thanks to forced induction, manufacturers can build more powerful but also more efficient bikes (at least on paper more fuel efficient).

Suzuki claims the bike offers 50% better fuel economy than a sports 600. We would love to see that in reality. The company goes on to use words like “easy handling,” “torquey,” “economy” and “exhilarating” to describe the bike. One thing is sure: the manufacturer in in desperate need of a model that will revitalize interest in the company’s motorcycles. The Recursion is more than capable of doing that.
