Another great custom motorcycle was revealed at last weekend’s Bike Shed in London. The one-off XJR1300 was built by Portuguese custom builders it roCkS!bikes. The special motorcycle, called the Dissident, is celebrating 20 years of the iconic street bruiser, the XJR series. The super-streamlined XJR1300 is a beautiful one-off bike that still has the heart and soul of the XJR. Click through for more details.
Yamaha kicked off its Yard Built program three years ago. Since then, we’ve seen some great custom bikes from Europe’s best builders, including Marcus Walz, Deus and JvB Moto. The newet member of this great club is the „Dissident”.

This bike was built by Portuguese custom builders it roCkS!bikes. Yamaha’s product manager Shun Miyazawa explains why they choose a Portuguese builder: “It roCkS!bikes were high on the list of builders we wanted to work with. Their experience working on the 1200 and 1300 models shows: they can build stunning customs without losing the heart of the original.”
As with all Yard Built bikes, the brief was to modify the machine without cutting or welding: showing how far a “plug and play” solution can transform the look of the XJR1300. The Dissident features many handcrafted parts, including modified suspension, leather seat, aluminum Monza-style gas cap, minimalistic paint job, and classic Yamaha colors of the ’70s and ’80s, with pearl white, black and gold.
The two builders, Osvaldo Coutinho and Alexandre Santos added a complex ISR braking system with new cylinders and 340mm dual discs, custom CNC-machined aluminum bracket and LSL clip-on bars, grips, rearsets and pegs.
Good news that roCkS!bikes are preparing a limited number of packs so you can turn your bike in this series without dramatic disbursements. Until then, enjoy the photos and the video.
