The famous actor’s original 1969 Electra Glide will be auctioned on June 27 at Julien’s. The bike comes with original papers that prove the change of ownership – Brando bought the bike on April 8, 1970. Unfortunately, there’s no official statement on the condition of the Electra Glide, but it has 13,859 miles (22,299 km) on it and it is expected to bring $400K.
If you want a piece of Hollywood history, here’s your chance. A very special Electra Glide will be auctioned in two weeks’ time at Julien’s. Auction’s lot #791 is an original 1969 Harley-Davidson FLH Electra Glide that used to belong to Marlon Brando who bought it in 1970.
The Electra Glide has 13,859 miles (22,299 km) on the clock and the bid will start at $100,000 (€89,000), but estimates suggest that the bike will bring between $200 and 400 grand (€178,000-356,000). The bike comes with official papers that prove its identity.
“It still pleases me to be awake during the dark, early hours before morning when everyone else is still asleep. I’ve been that way since I first moved to New York. I do my best thinking and writing then. During those early years in New York, I often got on my motorcycle in the middle of the night and went for a ride-anyplace. There wasn’t much crime in the city then, and if you owned a motorcycle, you left it outside your apartment and in the morning it was still there. It was wonderful on summer nights to cruise around the city at one, two, or three a.m. wearing jeans and a t-shirt with a girl on the seat behind me. If I didn’t start out with one, I’d find one.” said Marlon Brando about the bike.
