2011 KTM RC8 R price slashed

The Austrian company is probably not satisfied with RC8 R’s sales results, so they slashed the bike’s MSRP. With its new $16,499 price tag, the R version is now cheaper than the standard RC8. The bike, which was updated last year, features the 1198cc V2 engine producing 175hp and 127 Nm of torque. The RC8 R benefits from a dual spark plug ignition setup, revised throttle body, new ECU, new crankshaft and flywheel, and new suspension specifications. Read the full article »

Motorcycle manufacturer, racer and industry icon Erik Buell will be the featured guest at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame's annual Breakfast at Daytona fundraiser, Friday, March 11, during Bike Week at an all-new location inside the Daytona 500 Club in the infield of Daytona International Speedway. BMW Motorcycles starts new year with strong sales growth

The motorcycle division of BMW started the new year well, with strong sales growth of 24%. A total of 4,714 (prev. yr. 3,814) BMW motorcycles were delivered to customers worldwide in January 2011, continuing the steady sales growth of the previous year. BMW Motorrad recorded sales growth of 12.3 % for the full year 2010, against the overall market trend, and expanded its market share in all relevant motorcycle markets. Read the full article »

1955 Vincent Black Prince with 721,703 miles for sale

A very rare, 1955 Vincent Black Prince is up for auction at Bonham’s on April 24 at the Stafford Show. The slightly modified bike is owned from new by Stuart Jenkinson. The Black Prince features modified fairing, disc brakes, updated frame and new fuel tank. The Vincent has been to Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, Macedonia, Czechoslovakia, Montenegro, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Hungary and Greece. Read the full article »

Yamaha closes factory in Spain, moves to France

Yamaha yesterday announced it will close its factory in Palau-Solita i Plegamans, Spain due to falling global demand for its vehicles. The move will affect nearly 420 workers. The company moves production to another Yamaha factory at Saint-Quentin in northern France. "All over the world, and Europe in particular, there has been a prolonged fall in sales figures which forces Yahama to take steps to restructure its industrial capacity," it said. Read the full article »

Suzuki improved sales and profits in 2010

Japanese manufacturer Suzuki announced the sales and profit results for the first nine month of 2010. The company increased its sales by an encouraging 6.1% despite continued severe market condition. This means Suzuki sold 975,000 units globally in the nine month ended Dec. 31 2010. The manufacturer reported a total loss of $85.7 million on account of the continued sales slowdown of large-size motorcycles for Europe and US. Read the full article »

KTM opens stores in Brazil and Dubai

KTM, the market leader in sports-oriented motorcycles is going global, with the opening of flagship stores in Dubai and Brazil. The newly established Dubai arm of KTM is aimed at the fast-growing off-road market in the Middle Eastern country, while KTM Brazil is aimed at cracking South America’s low-capacity market. Dr. Venki Padmanabhan has been named Royal Enfield Motors new CEO. The new leader of the world’s oldest motorcycle manufacturer wants to restore Royal Enfield to past glories. "Charged with the responsibility of restoring the company to its natural place among the leading luxury classic motorcycle marquees of the world.
