Ducati sets new monthly sales record

Ducati has announced a new monthly sales record for April. The manufacturer sold 7,309 motorcycles last month, the highest monthly sales total in company history. The top selling bike was the brand new Scrambler, but the 1299 Panigale and Multistrada 1200 models also contributed to achieve these results. Read the full article »

Honda CBR1000RR and Yamaha YZF-R1M recalls caused by faulty Öhlins suspension

Honda and Yamaha are recalling sportsbike owners over a faulty Ohlins rear shock which could come apart during use. Since the Yamaha YZF-R1M barely hit the market, the recall only affects 350 owners while Yamaha has to notify all 2014/15 CBR1000RR owners. In total, 934 aftermarket Öhlins TTX series shocks are being recalled because the piston nut on some rear cushion shock absorders may not have been correctly tightened to specification when being manufactured. Read the full article »

Italian suspension maker Marzocchi is set to close shop

News from Italy seems to confirm that Marzocchi is being closed down, after parent company Tenneco made the decision to close the Italian firm’s Bologna factory in Zola Predosa. Marzocchi is one of the largest brands in the market of motorcycle suspension parts and supplies suspension to a large number of manufacturers like MV Agusta, BMW, Ducati, KTM, GasGas or Bimota. Read the full article »

Triumph still #1 European brand in North America

Triumph Motorcycles America has posted great first quarter sales numbers. This record setting first quarter by Triumph Motorcycles America, which included the highest single day retail sales ever on March 31st, resulted in the company as the top selling European brand in North America. The ranking is based upon motorcycle unit sales in the 500cc-plus on-road and dual-sport categories for the U.S. and Canada. Read the full article »

Motorcycle registrations increase in Europe

Europe's motorcycle market grew by 0.6% over the first two months of 2015, but markets like UK, Spain performed more positively with +11.5%, and +13.1%, respectively. Other countries like France, Germany performed not so well and reported decreased sales numbers. A total of 116,390 powered-two and three-wheelers were registered during the first two months of 2015 in the EU. Read the full article »

Electric motrocycle industry continues to grow

Forecasts by a research firm have revealed that the electric motorcycle industry is expected to achieve stable and continuous growth during the coming years. Battery costs will decrease in the next couple of years which makes the electric motorcycles and scooters more affordable. The market is led by China, where most of the world’s e-motorcycles and e-scooters are sold. ChemChina to buy Pirelli for $7.7 billion

China National Chemical Corp is set to buy into Pirelli, the world's fifth-largest tire maker for $7.7 billion or €7.1 billion. The deal will put the 143-year-old Italian company in Chinese hands. According to Reuters, the top shareholders of Pirelli agreed on Sunday. The offer will be launched at 15 euros per share, valuing the brand at 7.1 billion euros excluding net debt of almost 1 billion euros at the end of last year. Read the full article »

BMW patents three-cylinder engines

BMW is known for its opposed cylinders sticking out of each sides of their bikes but that may change soon enough. The Bavarian manufacturer has just patented two different three-cylinder engines.
