There are lots of motorcycles that shouldn’t be forgotten. We decided to start a new series about such motorcycles and the first bike of the series is the Yamaha MT-01, a cruiser in a sport package. This is possibly the fastest mass-produced V-Twin in a straight line with magnificent styling, plenty of torque and literally no practicality. It’s not uncommon that large car manufacturers take a detour into the world of motorcycles. BMW produces motorcycles for 90 years now and Mercedes-Benz bought shares through its AMG department in MV Agusta. There are even rumors about Ferrari getting into the bike business. Jaguar is also not known for its two-wheelers but Hungarian designer Tamas Jakus still created a Jaguar motorcycle concept called the MC7. Read the full article »

What is the car of the year for you? The Alfa Romeo 4C? The Tesla S? What is the custom motorcycle of the year? The Harley Livewire? The PJD Pro-Street Cafe? For us, it was a one-off motorcycle commissioned by a French watchmaker and built by a British custom shop using an American donor bike. The new Ducati Scrambler is one of the hottest new bike on the market. According to BBC, this is THE bike of the year since it’s a real bike with real noise and it does all that at such an accessible price. It’s a simple-as-stone bike with an air-cooled engine, true Italian styling and easy handling. The revival of cafe racers is fuelled by the world’s apparently insatiable appetite for nostalgia. They’re popular enough to make it into serial production but there are lots of shed-built specials or custom cafe racers, too. These light-weight, stylish motorcycles are highly popular in Europe, mostly in Italy and in France but you can often spot these machines on the roads of the UK or Spain. KTM CEO Stefan Pierer has just announced his plan with Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna: it will be positioned as a retro motorcycle brand, according to an interview with Speedweek. Pierer basically revealed that they will reposition the 110-year old brand. While industry experts have questioned Pierer’s plans to merge KTM, Husqvarna and Husaberg to create one large company using the car industry as inspiration, we try to find out what future may hold for Husqvarna. Slovenian exhaust manufacturer Akrapovič has apparently gotten into custom bikes to show off its work - and we’re glad they did. They have just revealed the Full Moon concept on the Bad Salzuflen custom bike show in Germany. Extravagant, uncategorizable, striking - these are the first words I said when I saw the bike. The gorgeous design was developed in cooperation with another Slovenian company called Dreamachine Motorcycles and it took approximately 800 hours to complete. Read the full article »
