Harley-Davidson branded license plates in Wisconsin

Wisconsin motorists have a new opportunity to support motorcycle safety initiatives throughout the state. Harley-Davidson Motor Company today announced it is partnering with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to offer the first-ever Harley-Davidson branded automotive license plate to motorists in Wisconsin. This plate will be available for automobiles, light trucks and motor homes. The Harley-Davidson/Share the Road plate officially launches on Wednesday, April 13. Read the full article »

Official: BMW Concept C goes on sale in 2012

According to MCN, BMW Motorrad has confirmed that the mass-production of the Concept C starts in 2012. The radical concept was designed to show the future of BMW motorcycles and was unveiled at last year’s Intermot in Cologne. BMW also confirmed that the production version of the bike will debut at this year’s EICMA show. The bike is powered by a powerful parallel twin wngine. And what about the production version? “Sadly we won’t have lasers fitted and however hard we’ve tried we can’t find anyone to make blue tyres.” says BMW Vice President of Design David Robb. Read the full article »

America’s best 15 motorcycling roads

Members of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) voted on their favorite roads in America, and the top 15 selections represent scenic highways and byways throughout the country. "When it comes to the best places in the country to ride motorcycles, no group of riders is more knowledgeable than AMA members," said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. The Vyrus 986 M2 Factory is a new bikethat the Italian based company presented at the Motor Bike Expo, an interpretation of a Moto2 machine according to Vyrus. 135 kg for 136 hp, lightness and rideability, power and control, the ingredients of the most innovative motorcycle ever produced. Two Moto Guzzi prototypes debut in Monte Carlo

A brand new white Moto Guzzi California and a Scrambler version of the V7 provided an exciting double surprise from Moto Guzzi at the Piaggio Group international dealer meeting in Monte Carlo on 27 and 28 January. The annual event for almost two thousand Piaggio Group dealers at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo ended with the unexpected preview of two prototypes offering a foretaste of the Eagle brand’s future product strategies. Read the full article »

Yamaha FZ and Fazer Midnight Special Series – Black is the hip

Yamaha Motor India has now announced the launch of the FZ and Fazer Midnight Special Edition. The 150cc FZ and Fazer Series was introduced in 2008 in India, and the models gained immense popularity amongst youngsters. The manufacturer decided now to come up with a limited edition series, the Midnight Special. As the tag suggests, the bikes will be available in all black color concept with golden alloy wheel highlighting the exclusive looks of the FZ range. Read the full article »

EU rejects ABS kill switch for motorcycles

In yesterday’s meeting, the European Commission presented the proposal for new type approval rules for motorcycles. The Commission proposes to abolish the 100hp limit in France, as well as the introduction of new requirements for tailpipes. The document also includes the mandatory ABS and other new rules for engine modification. FEMA (Federation of European Motorcyclists’ Associations) reminded the Commission that vehicle aspects represent less than 2% of motorcycle accident casuation factors and said, the mandatory approach is limiting consumer choice. Read the full article »

Video: how Kawasaki’s sport traction control works

The 2011 ZX-10R features Kawasaki’s sport traction control, the S-KTRC. This system comes straight from the race track (MotoGP), and the manufacturer released a video now, which explains the difference between a normal traction control and the S-KTRC. The ZX-10R’s system constantly monitors the separate speeds of the front and rear wheels, engine RPM, throttle position, acceleration and other factors. When the S-KTRC recognizes a small amount of slip, reacts in five milliseconds, altering engine ignition. Read the full article »
