These are the first pictures of the 2011 Daytona 675R – a high-spec version of Triumph’s supersport bike. The new machine will be the first Triumph equipped with Öhlins suspension. The bike features high-spec Brembo brakes, carbon mudguards, white/black paint scheme, new Triumph logos, and red subrfame. The British marque didn’t release the technical specifications yet, but it is believed the engine is unchanged and the chassis is also unaltered. Rumours suggest the bike get quick-shifter though. Honda continues to release information about its new bike that „will have the flexibility and exciting attitude of a naked performance machine, with the upright riding position and rugged appearance of an adventure bike.”, says the company’s statement. This second sketch shows the front fairing of the bike, which is designed to provide high speed stability while keeping the engine cool. This new machine have to battle the popular BMW R1200GS, the Ducati Multistrada, the Yamaha Super Ténéré and the new Triumph Tiger 800 XC. Read the full article »

The Bavarian marque will introduce the 2011 R1200GS Triple Black at the EICMA show in Milan next month, but they already released the official photos and technical data of the special edition bike. The machine is based on the 2010 R1200GS and comes with metallic black paint, cross-spoke wheels, front forks, engine castings, rear sub-frame, and valve covers. The bike got BMW’s Premium Package which includes Enduro Electronic Suspension Adjustment, heated grips, hand guards, ABS, and pannier mounting points. The Triple Black uses the same 110hp boxer engine as the 2010 GS. The bike carries a price tag of $18,385 MSRP. Read the full article »

In 2012, the two-stroke 125cc MotoGP class will be axed by FIA. The new category, called the Moto3 will feature 250cc four-stroke Honda engines and the Japanese manufacturer released the first photos of their NRS250 race bike (Next Racing Standard) which will use a modified single-cylinder engine from Honda’s CRF250 off-road machine. The Collector’s Motorcycles and Related Memorabilia from Bonhams was held in Stafford UK yesterday. One of the most interesting machines of the show was a URS sidecar from 1967. The unique post-war machine featured a 500cc four-cylinder engine and won the Sidecar World Championship in 1968. The bike was expected to command between $110,000 and $125,000 at Bonhams annual sale but achieved a staggering $163,000. The machine was ridden by the legendary Helmuth Fath. Read the full article »

The Piaggio Group presented the revised versions of its popular scooters, the Typhoon 50 and 125 at the Intermot 2010. Typhoon is a bit of flagship for the Italian brand and for 2011, and they are going to be even better for 2011. The 50cc and the 125cc versions will get more powerful engines, a revised design and flashy graphics. The smaller version has a 2-stroke engine which delivers a respectable 4.2hp at 6500rpm and 4.6Nm at 6000rpm. Honda released an official sketch which shows a new adventure bike. The Japanese manufacturer will bring a new 1200cc concept bike to the EICMA show next month, and rumours suggest the new sketch is based on this machine. The concept will most likely to feature the VFR’s 1200cc V4 engine and will have an exclusive, sporty design. If Honda builds a new model with this engine, it will have to be lighter and sportier than the overhyped, heavy VFR. The concept will be shown in the upcoming EICMA show in Milan. The Swedish company introduced two new models – the SMS 4 Supermoto and the TE 125 enduro machine. The bikes, aimed at young fans, have race-bred looks and surprisingly high spec components. Both bikes have the same chassis and engine, the biggest difference is the tire size – the SMS 4 features 17-coll tires, while the TE125 has 21-coll front wheel and 18-coll rear wheel.
