BMW S 1000 RR clinches three „Best of” honors in U.S.

BMW Motorrad introduced its new sport bike at Italy’s famed Monza racetrack, during the World Superbike race weekend, in May 9, 2009. End of an era: 125cc to be replaced by Moto3

The Grand Prix Commission, MotoGP’s ruling body met at Brno at the weekend and they finalized the demise of the two-strokeengine from Grand Prix Racing. It’s long rumoured that the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) would phase out two-smokers. The new class will be officially called Moto3, with the first season to kick off in 2012. Read the full article »

Husqvarna updated the WR250 and WR300 offroad bikes for 2011

The swedish company introduced the 2011 WR250 and WR300 enduro machines. The two models got only one important update on a technical level, the rest of the changes is aesthetic. The Sultan of Qatar has a new toy – the MV Agusta F4 Libeccio

Alka Design has created two special versions for the MV Agusta F4, both inspired by the world of supercars. The first one, dubbed the Libeccio is a studie inspired by the Pagani Zonda One, a one-of supercar made for Ana Al-Thani, the Sultan of Qatar. The Libeccio has - just as the Zonda - a body completely made out of carbon fiber. As far as we know, Alka didn' touch the engine, the inline-four produces still 186hp at 12,900rpm. Read the full article »

BMW motorcycles: July sales up

After announcing increased sales in the second quarter of 2010, the motorcycle division of BMW reported additional positivity for July. The sales of the German manufacturer rose 4.4% to 10,022 over 500cc, a segment that’s been on the negative side of sales across all manufacturers lately. BMW sold 9604 motorcycles in July 2009 in this segment. In the January-July period, BMW sold more than 67 000 motorcycles (previous year: 56 578). The best-selling model is – no surprise – the long-distance enduro, the R1200 GS, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Read the full article »

Video: Jenny Tinmouth’s zero-emission lap record

No matter if you like the electric motorcycles or not - they're here to stay. We saw the amazing speed of the Motoczysz E1pc on this year's Isle of Man TT, and now here's Jenny Tinmouth's zero-emission lap record at Anglesey circuit, during a round of the UK TTXGP Championship. Her fastest lap was 1:20.922 and had an average speed of 69mph. Wonder how long it will take before electric machines lap faster than petrol-powered machines. Read the full article »

Zaeta 530: new production street tracker from Italy

Graziano Rossi isn't a well known person, but if I tell you that his son's name is Valentino, does it ring a bell, doesn't it? The father of the nine-time MotoGP world champion has just started a new motorcycle company, which had a prototype called the "Ouroboros Zaeta" last year. Leaked documents confirm the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200

Rumours have swirled since the introduction of Aprilia's 750cc Dorsoduro back in 2007, that the company plans a larger 1200cc version. It was four almost years ago but we finally got the confirmation of the stronger version, even if in a funny way.
