Dual clutch Honda Fireblade in the pipeline

Honda was the very first motorcycle factory which offered dual clutch transmission. The fast transmission, which adds nearly 10% to the price of the standard $16 000 dollar bike, was introduced in the VFR1200 F. But designing a revolutionary new transmission isn't cheap, so Honda wants to spread the system across its range. To do that, they need to revise it so it can fit is smaller models, like the Fireblade. Another key element is the simplifying the electronics and sensors, reaching the same effect as the VFR's, but with reduced costs. Honda Japan has filed patents that shows this simplified system. The new design eliminates one expensive potentiometer used on the VFR. If they succeed, the dual-clutch Fireblade could appear in two years. Read the full article »

Moto Guzzi Nevada 750 Anniversario – Happy Birthday Nevada

The Nevada 750 is one of the most succesful models of Moto Guzzi's lineup, a bike that year after year has established itself as alternative to custom overseas thanks to a simple style, strong technique and reassuring personality driving behavior. Moto3 to replace 125cc MotoGP class in 2012

If rumours are to believed, the technical revolution in MotoGP will be completed in 2012 when the current 125cc two-strokes are banished in favour of a 250cc four-stroke engines. The class will be renamed to Moto3. Read the full article »

Motorcycle accident? Here’s where you’re most likely to get injured

A european study has been produced from data taken from five countries, Italy, Holland, Germany, France and Spain. The writers of the document analysed 921 accidents over 3 years, resulting approximately 2000 variables being coded for each accident. The investigation included a full reconstruction of the accident; vehicles were inspected; witnesses to the accident were interviewed; and, subject to the applicable privacy laws, with the full cooperation and consent of both the injured person and the local authorities, pertinent medical records for the injured riders and passengers were collected. From these data, all the human, environmental and vehicle factors, which contributed to the outcome of the accident were identified. The result is this infographic. Read the full article »
