Yamaha will make its official return to the World Superbike Championship in 2016 in collaboration with Crescent Racing and title sponsors PATA. The team will place the new YZF-R1 in the hands of 2014 World Superbike Champion Sylvain Guintoli and 2013 British Superbike Champion Alex Lowes. Registration for the 2016 Dakar for motorcycles and quads closed on Wednesday, July 15, as usual, two months after it opened on May 15. Prior to that date, KTM announced that it will start two factory teams next year. KTM also thanked Marc Coma for all his efforts as a KTM rider as the Spaniard is retiring from racing. Husqvarna Motorcycles has announced that it will compete in the Dakar Rally with an official factory team from the 2016 edition of the most famous and toughest offroad event on the annual motorsports calendar. The official Husqvarna Factory Racing Team have signed two prominent riders in the form of Dakar veteranRuben Faria of Portugal and Pierre-Alexandre (Pela) Renet of France, who comes to rally sport with impeccable Enduro credentials. Suzuki is set to celebrate 30 years of GSX-R with a special livery at the Sachsenring MotoGP race in Germany next weekend, along with launching a new limited-edition production machine that will be available globally. The first model of the series was the GSX-R 750 and it was revealed back in 1985. Since then, the GSX-R acronym is Suzuki’s most important brand. Click through for some details. Victory’s Pikes Peak project suffered a huge setback on Saturday June 13th when Don Canet lost the front end during practice and crashed. Fortunatelyx, the rider was not injured and Victory Racing is still intending to compete in Pike’s Peak on Sunday 28th June. Max Biaggi returns to World Superbike for two rounds in the saddle of the Aprilia RSV4 race bike. The WorldSBK Champion of 2010 and 2012 retired back in 2012 so that he can spend more time with his family. But Biaggi stayed in touch with the sport and when Aprilia asked him to test some new parts, he said yes. Fans will be able to see Biaggi at Misano this weekend first. Read the full article »
John McGuinness took his 22nd and 23rd TT victory by winning the TT Zero and TT Senior races. The 43-year-old Brit an a 17:03.567 en route to winning the 2015 Senior TT. Furthermore, he shattered Bruce Anstey’s outright lap record from last year’s Superbike race with a sensational speed of 132.701mph. Kawasaki rider James Hillier looks set to claim the fastest ever speed recorded for a motorcycle on closed roads at the Isle of Man TT after registering over 331.52 kph (206mph) on the famous Sulby straight riding a Ninja H2R in a parade lap. The Quattro Plant Kawasaki rider declared himself nervous but excited at the prospect of guiding the closed-course-only Ninja H2R around the 37 mile circuit complete with its integrated supercharger and 300+ horsepower. Honda has finally revealed its much anticipated RC213V-S bike. The bike look pretty cool with its red-white-blue lievery but the performance of the base model – 159hp and 102Nm (75 lb-ft)– is a bit disappointing. Installing a racing kit makes things a little brighter, as the engine is said to deliver 215hp. In addition to that, installing the racing kit makes the bike 10kg lighter. If the Isle of Man TT is the toughest on-road motorcycle race in the world, then the Erzberg Rodeo is the craziest race off the road. This mining pit in Austria is a very special venue: the course is 22 miles long, and the terrain is insanely rough.
