In 2011, Yamaha is celebrating it's fiftieth year of GP racing with a special paint job that all of their MotoGP teams will be using for the Assen and Laguna Seca rounds, but that’s not everything. The Japanese manufacturer also revealed a special T-Max maxi scooter which will get the special GP livery paint job. Unfortunately, the bike will only be available in the Japanese domestic market. Casey Stoner tested the 2012 Repsol Honda prototype in Jerez yesterday. “Everything has gone very well, very positive. It’s just nice to ride the 1000cc again, to feel the engine and the power,” said Stoner. “I had a lot of fun, I enjoyed the first day because everything we’ve tried seems to be working, so no complaints. The biggest disappointment is that Dani is not going be here to test as he is important to the development of this bike. 2011 marks a very special moment in two wheeled motorsport as the 50th Anniversary of World Championship Grand Prix racing for Yamaha. As part of a series of ongoing activities to celebrate this landmark Yamaha Factory Racing will run a special livery, the ‘YZR-M1 WGP50th Anniversary Edition’ for the Assen TT and Laguna Seca races. Reigning MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo and 2010 Rookie of the Year Ben Spies will unveil the livery at a special event on Wednesday 22nd June close to the Assen circuit. Read the full article »

A heavily weather adjusted programme saw the action move from Sunday to Saturday with teams taking to field in the opening race of the TTXGP North American Championship 2011. Brammo take the win at the A123 Infineon round of the TTXGP North American Championship 2011. With a platform evolved from the Isle of Man TTXGP race, Steve Atlas dominated from the outset taking a fast lap of 1:57.875 only narrowly missing Shawn Higbee's TTXGP 2010 lap time of 1:56.948. Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner secured victory for the first time in his career at the Le Mans circuit in Sunday’s Monster Energy Grand Prix de France. It was a close battle until the very end between two Italians for second place but it was the second Repsol Honda of Andrea Dovizioso who clinched the 20 points, ahead of Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) who achieved his first rostrum riding the Desmosedici. Stoner took his 25th premier class career win after a dominant ride to pull away at the front and win by a margin of over 14 seconds. Read the full article »

Shaun Muir Racing has confirmed that Ian Hutchinson has finally been forced to admit defeat in his brave battle to be fit for the 2011 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy. The Yamaha rider, who won a historic five TT Races in 2010, has not yet fully recovered from the injuries sustained during the first lap of the BSB Supersport Race at Silverstone in September 2010. Hutchinson, 31, from Bingley in Yorkshire suffered a compound fracture of the tibia and fibia and to date has undergone 16 operations and skin grafts. Read the full article »

What you can see here, is a concept sketch of the new 2012 „Flying Banana”. This sketch gives us some idea of what to expect this weekend at Infineon for the first round of the North American TTXGP series. According to the TTXGP entry list, Lightning Motors will run two bikes, with Mike Hannas (number 88) and and Michael Barnes (number 80). This means that the Lightning motors is the only team running two bikes at Infineon this season. Read the full article »
British newspaper The Telegraph reports that lorries belonging to the Kawasaki WSBK team were stopped by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) at Dover last month after arriving by road from Italy. On board of the trucks, officers allegedly found 18lbs of cocaine, 157lbs of amphetamine tablets and more than 220lbs of cannabis. A handgun and 35 rounds of ammunition were also found. Four technicians (Philip Roe, 40, mechanic and truck driver, Gary Matthews, 50, a truck driver and tyre technician; Mattia Fontana, 27, an Italian mechanic, and Daniel Swyer, 32, a mechanic) from Paul Bird Motorsport were arrested. After a race long duel with Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa raced to victory at the Grande Premio de Portugal. Pedrosa who only recently had surgery on his injured shoulder, had been seemingly pacing himself behind the leader, Lorenzo, until the final three laps, when the Repsol Honda rider, passed the Yamaha down the straight and then delivered a succession of fastest laps to pass the chequered flag first. Pedrosa finished just over three seconds ahead of the reigning MotoGP World Champion and closed the gap on Lorenzo’s lead in the standings to just four points. Read the full article »
