Campagna Motors is well known for its three-wheeled machines, like the 2010 T-Rex 14RR. The RR version is the lightest and the most expensive on the Canadien’s lineup. The trike uses a fiberglass bodywork weighing 551lbs, a 1352cc Kawasaki four-cylinder engine coupled with a six-speed gearbox. Yamaha introduced its EC-03 electric scooter concept in 2009 at the EICMA show, and the bike is heading into serial production next spring. Here’s a promo video of the e-moped which features a 1.6 kW brushless DC motor, lithium-ion battery, drum brakes and a planetary gear transmission housed inside the rear wheel hub. The range is expected to be around 25 km (15 miles)on a single charge. Price will be around €2,400 ($3,300). Read the full article »

Dainese presented the long-awaited D-air Racing, which has been in development since 2000 and is due to hit the market in late April / May 2011. D-air Racing has been tested over the last year by newly crowned MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo with team mate Valentino Rossi and also by road racing's lovable rouge Guy Martin. Peugeot revealed its E-Vivacity electric scooter last November, and as expected, the machine goes into production in 2011. The brand released now more details about the motorcycle. The E-Vivacity is a 100% electric scooter, representing “a revolution in the urban mobility sector, a fun and handy vehicle, with excellent acceleration performances.” – says Peugeot. Moto Guzzi is a small brand compared to, say, BMW or Triumph, so a new motorcycle introduction from the manufacturer is a big news. The Italians made a splash at last year’s EICMA with the three V12 concepts, as well as the V7 Clubman Racer prototype that is now going into limited production as the V7 Racer. The GP Commission has finally announced the details on the upcoming Moto3 class, which will replace the 125cc 2-stroke category in 2012. The new machines will use a four-stroke 250cc single-cylinder engine with an 81mm maximum bore size. The organisers wanted to make the class cheaper than the current entry-level category so teams can only implement limited level of electronics and the engine will have a maximum rpm of 14,000. With multiple manufacturers able to offer engines and chassis for the new class, Moto3 should be more open than the Moto2. Read the full article »

Rieju has unveiled the 2011 version of its learner-legal 50 and 125cc sportsbike, the RS3. The new RS3 features a more advanced bodywork and an agressive styling. Power is supplied by a well-proven 50cc liquid-cooled Yamaha 2-stroke-motor or a 125cc 4-stroke engine which delivers about 15hp. Both engines are mated with a 6-speed gearbox. Precise handling is provided by Showa inverted 35mm front fork plus the use of lightweight 17” alloy rims to reduce unspring weight. Read the full article »

The Italian company launched its 2011 helmet lineup at the EICMA show last week. The new, enhanced lineup includes three new products: the N71, the N63 and the N33. The first one, the N71 is a „crossover” full-face helmet but has a removable chin guard. In the full-face configuration, the N71 offers maximum protection, and features internal sunscreen (VPS – Vision Protection System). The second helmet, the N63 is a new full-face road helmet designed for city use. The third helmet, the N33 is a demi-jet helmet suitable for city riding, but is also suitable for touring. The Italian manufacturer presented the 2011 Monster 1100 EVO at EICMA show in Milan. The updated bike is lighter and more powerful, and now features standard ABS and Ducati Traction ontrol (DTC). The 2011 Monster weighs just 373lbs, 4lbs less than the 2010 version. The updated engine delivers five extra horsepower, which means the 2011 Monster is the first two-valve Ducati that reaches 100hp. New 10-spoke wheels replace the five-spoke units on the 2010 models, with Pirelli Diablo Rosso remaining the OE tire. Brembo binders now come with ABS as standard, available as an option on previous models. Read the full article »
