BMW motorcycles: July sales up

After announcing increased sales in the second quarter of 2010, the motorcycle division of BMW reported additional positivity for July. The sales of the German manufacturer rose 4.4% to 10,022 over 500cc, a segment that’s been on the negative side of sales across all manufacturers lately. BMW sold 9604 motorcycles in July 2009 in this segment. In the January-July period, BMW sold more than 67 000 motorcycles (previous year: 56 578). The best-selling model is – no surprise – the long-distance enduro, the R1200 GS, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Read the full article »

Video: Jenny Tinmouth’s zero-emission lap record

No matter if you like the electric motorcycles or not - they're here to stay. We saw the amazing speed of the Motoczysz E1pc on this year's Isle of Man TT, and now here's Jenny Tinmouth's zero-emission lap record at Anglesey circuit, during a round of the UK TTXGP Championship. Her fastest lap was 1:20.922 and had an average speed of 69mph. Wonder how long it will take before electric machines lap faster than petrol-powered machines. Read the full article »

Zaeta 530: new production street tracker from Italy

Graziano Rossi isn't a well known person, but if I tell you that his son's name is Valentino, does it ring a bell, doesn't it? The father of the nine-time MotoGP world champion has just started a new motorcycle company, which had a prototype called the "Ouroboros Zaeta" last year. Leaked documents confirm the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200

Rumours have swirled since the introduction of Aprilia's 750cc Dorsoduro back in 2007, that the company plans a larger 1200cc version. It was four almost years ago but we finally got the confirmation of the stronger version, even if in a funny way. Kawasaki debuts 2011 ER-4n naked bike

Kawasaki has launched the new 2011 ER-4n, a stylish naked-sport bike in Japan. There are several types of motorcycle licenses in the Asian country, and the "ordinary" license is valid up to 400cc engine displacement. Ostoure (standing „Legend” in Persian) utilizes delicate, futuristic but muscular design and futuristic technology. Official: Claudio Castiglioni buys MV Agusta

MV Agusta has been sold to former owner Claudio Castiglioni by Harley-Davidson just two years after the company was bought for $109 million. The American manufacturer announced its intention to sell MV Agusta in October 2009 as part of a new corporate strategy to focus resources on the Harley-Davidson brand.
