Gogoro unveils Smartscooter, the electric scooter of the future

Taiwanese startup Gogoro revealed its new Smartscooter during the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show. The Smartscooter is not just a new electric bike - the company has proposed a new idea to dramatically reduce battery recharge time – the Gogoro Energy Network, “a modular battery-swapping infrastructure for electric vehicles like the Smartscooter that can be deployed across a city to provide portable power.” Read the full article »

Walz Hardcore Cycles has filed for bankruptcy

Is this the end of the road for one of Europe’s best custom bike builders? His clients include Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves, Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Räikkönen and other VIPs. But now Walz Cycles has filed for bankruptcy and CEO Michael Krohek has sacked all seven employees. Turbocharged Suzuki Recursion Concept heading to serial production?

Recursion was a turbocharged concept motorcycle shown by Suzuki at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Show and it was one of the best looking bikes Suzuki has come up with in a while. Reports from Japan now suggest that there is a production version in the works. It should be a lightweight, middleweight-sized machine powered by a turbocharged 588cc parallel twin. 2015 MV Agusta F4 RC confirmed

MV Agusta has accidentally confirmed the 2015 F4 RC as the Italians have released the pricing structure for their 2015 MY motorcycles in the US. The street legal version of the new F4 - to be raced in World Superbike next year - will cost $46,000 in the US and around €40,000 in the European market. Other good news for MV Agusta enthusiasts in the US that several models got a modest price decrease. Read the full article »

Russian firm is developing a head-up-display helmet

Drivers on phones, changing road surfaces, drivers not using mirrors - motorcyclists have enough to worry about without having to stare constantly on the speedometer. A Russian firm is now developing a head-up display helmet with built-in GPS navigation system and voice controlled interface. The firm is planning the release of the prototype in the spring, followed by a production version going on sale in the United States in summer. Streamlining a Harley Softail: the Bell & Ross B-Rocket

What is the car of the year for you? The Alfa Romeo 4C? The Tesla S? What is the custom motorcycle of the year? The Harley Livewire? The PJD Pro-Street Cafe? For us, it was a one-off motorcycle commissioned by a French watchmaker and built by a British custom shop using an American donor bike. Ducati Scrambler concepts by Gannet Design

The new Ducati Scrambler is one of the hottest new bike on the market. According to BBC, this is THE bike of the year since it’s a real bike with real noise and it does all that at such an accessible price. It’s a simple-as-stone bike with an air-cooled engine, true Italian styling and easy handling. The most beautiful cafe racers of the year

The revival of cafe racers is fuelled by the world’s apparently insatiable appetite for nostalgia. They’re popular enough to make it into serial production but there are lots of shed-built specials or custom cafe racers, too. These light-weight, stylish motorcycles are highly popular in Europe, mostly in Italy and in France but you can often spot these machines on the roads of the UK or Spain.
