The North American division of Vespa has just announced its 2015 300 GTS range. The largest and most powerful product of the manufacturer will be offered in three variants: the GTS 300, GTS 300 Super and GTS 300 Supersport. KTM CEO Stefan Pierer has just announced his plan with Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna: it will be positioned as a retro motorcycle brand, according to an interview with Speedweek. Pierer basically revealed that they will reposition the 110-year old brand. While industry experts have questioned Pierer’s plans to merge KTM, Husqvarna and Husaberg to create one large company using the car industry as inspiration, we try to find out what future may hold for Husqvarna. English sports bike manufacturer Norton has announced that the legendary Dominator name is set to return as they are already taking orders for a new version of the Domiracer. The Dominator SS will be privately previewed at an exclusive evening to be held at Donington Hall at the end of January 2015. At the New York International Motorcycle Show, Kawasaki has revealed a one-off Ninja H2R created specifically for eleven-time drag racing champion Rickey Gadson. The special Ninja is truly an amazing bike featuring a 998cc supercharged inline-four, winglets and spoilers and carbon bodywork. The seat is cupped to keep you from being sucked off the back of it. Slovenian exhaust manufacturer Akrapovič has apparently gotten into custom bikes to show off its work - and we’re glad they did. They have just revealed the Full Moon concept on the Bad Salzuflen custom bike show in Germany. Extravagant, uncategorizable, striking - these are the first words I said when I saw the bike. Electric cars like the Tesla Model S or the Fisker Karma changed the way people think about green cars. In the motorcycle world, there’s a similar change on the horizon, these bikes are now ready for primetime. The Chinese have just revealed a Europen patent of a V-Twin that suggests that they may have plans to offer bikes in the old continent. The engine was introduced at a recent motorcycle show in Guangzhou, China. Now, before you laugh at them, just take a look at recent made-in-China cars and realize how fast their car manufacturers got in the last ten years. They certainly have the money to buy a smaller European or Japanese manufacturer to get the know-how and with an attractive price tag, the well-established companies could face a serious challenge. Ducati has begun production of its new scrambler at the Bologna factory in Italy. In just six months time since the project was presented to Ducati employees, the bike has entered production. The new model is very important for Ducati since it is the first scrambler after the company stopped manufacturing scramblers 40 years ago. The first bikes off the line was greeted by Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati, together with Silvano Fini, Manager of the Borgo Panigale plant. Read the full article »
