British manufacturer Triumph has rolled out its 500,000th bike since its rebirth in 1990, which was restarted with the purchase of the firm by John Bloor. The 500,000th bike is a 2011 Speed Triple. To celebrate the special occasion, they are sending the special Speed Triple and UK comic Ross Noble on a 7-day tour of the British Isles, which is to be twitter-broadcasted. Reverend Ray Biddiss reached speeds of 114.1 mph on his Triumph Rocket III motorcycle hearse at Elvington Airfield in York yesterday.Claiming he reached the break neck speeds "on a wing and a prayer" on the one tonne 2.3 litre, three cylinder, three wheeled "Rocket", Ray coursed two and a half miles under the watchful eye of officials who observed his record attempt. Witness statements, video footage, photography and speed trap beam breaking timed results which measure accuracy to within 1000th of a second will now be analysed by Guinness World Records. One of Yamaha Tech3 MotoGP team’s trucks was involved in an accident that has killed a motorcyclist. The 54-year old rider died at the La Ciotat toll booth on the A50 highway in France. The motorcyclist stopped behind a big truck waiting in the queue to pay the toll. The driver of the semi-trailer for some reason backed up at the toll booth and hit the biker, trapping him under the truck and dragging him backwards for over 10 meters. The biker died on the spot. Shaun Muir Racing has confirmed that Ian Hutchinson has finally been forced to admit defeat in his brave battle to be fit for the 2011 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy. The Yamaha rider, who won a historic five TT Races in 2010, has not yet fully recovered from the injuries sustained during the first lap of the BSB Supersport Race at Silverstone in September 2010. Hutchinson, 31, from Bingley in Yorkshire suffered a compound fracture of the tibia and fibia and to date has undergone 16 operations and skin grafts. Read the full article »

The Australian arm of Honda launched a special edition Fireblade to celebrate the 2007 MotoGP World Champion signing for Honda in 2011. The bike comes with a plate of authenticity, a Repsol seat cowl and Stoner decals mounted on the motorcycle. The manufacturer released a video to promote the special edition Fireblade starring Casey Stoner. Unfortunately, the special CBR1000RR motorcycles marketed only in Australia alone. Fearless Chilean base jumper Julio Munoz decided to perform a death-defying stunt in the Chilean Andes. The world-famous stuntman is clearly crazy – but he makes great videos of his feats. Wearing a helmet-mounted camera he sped his 450cc bike off a cliff before opening his parachute just 200ft from the ground while the bike crashed into the side of the mountain. The stunt is thought to have taken three years to plan and cost more than $100,000. Read the full article »

What you can see here, is a concept sketch of the new 2012 „Flying Banana”. This sketch gives us some idea of what to expect this weekend at Infineon for the first round of the North American TTXGP series. According to the TTXGP entry list, Lightning Motors will run two bikes, with Mike Hannas (number 88) and and Michael Barnes (number 80). Akrapovic is a Slovenian manufacturer which is known for making exhaust systems primarily for motorcycles. The manufacturer decided to build a custom chopper. Of course, Akrapovic didn’t build the Morsus on its own, it was created in collaboration with Dreamachine Motorcycles. Whilst its a one off piece of art, its a working machine which can be ridden. The machine was designed and handbuilt in Slovenia with the project coordinated by Dreamachine Motorcycles and Akrapovič leading designers, engineers and skilled craftsmen. Read the full article »
