The 2011 Scarabeo 125 and 200 scooters have finally arrived. The bikes feature new electronic injection engines, new graphics and upgraded on-board computer. The Italian manufacturer refined the design, while the footrest is flat so the load capacity is increased. For some of you that don’t know Aprilia’s Tuono V4 is the naked version of one of the finest sports bike - the RSV4. The naked bike is powered by the RSV4’s detuned 65-degree V4 delivering 167hp. This makes the Tuono the most powerful bike in its category, unless you count the Yamaha V-Max. The Tuono V4 R is now available with the APRC package. Aprilia released 127 high-res pictures of the 2011 Tuono V4 R and V4 R APRC, which was revealed back at EICMA show last November. The V4 R is one of its kind with a V4 engine which delivers 167hp at 11,500rpm and 111.5Nm at 9,500rpm. The R version features new valve timing diagram, longer intake ducts, shortened gear ratios, and new crankshaft flywheel with increased inertia. Aprilia launched the RSV4 R APRC Special Edition last autumn, and now, we have more images of the bike. The Aprilia RSV4 R APRC's improvements are not limited to the electronic management system. The 65° V4 engine offers improved lubrication and closer spaced gears for better acceleration. The new, lighter exhaust features an advanced butterfly valve management system to suit the Ride By Wire mapping for improved breathing and efficiency throughout the RPM range. Until now the big supermoto category has been ruled by the KTM 990 Supermoto R and the Ducati Hypermotard 1100 EVO, which was recently updated for the 2011 model year. Now, there’s a new player out there. The Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 features a host of electronic rider aids and the Italian machine offers the most powerful V-twin engine in the category. Aprilia decided to give the RSV4 R the APRC treatment which debuted last Autumn at the EICMA show in form of the RSV4 Factory APRC Special Edition. This means the RSV4 R APRC SE will be equipped with an 8-stage adjustable traction control, wheelie control, launch control, and a quick shifter. Along with these high-tech electronics, the bike also features an improved motor lubrication system and recalibrated gearbox for better acceleration. Spain's Carlos Checa (Ducati Althea Racing) scored a splendid double win at Phillip Island, a repeat of his double win at Imola last September. Just like in the first race, no one was able to run with the Spanish rider and he finished a couple of seconds ahead of Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia). The reigning world champion battled it out for the runner-up slot in the final stages with an impressive Marco Melandri (Yamaha World Superbike Team), just getting the edge at the line. For the Aprilia Alitalia team last season was one of triumph and records: Max Biaggi was the first Italian in history to earn the World SBK Champion wreath and the Aprilia RSV4 brought the manufacturer Championship home Noale even though it was only in its second year. A triumph on all fronts which allowed Aprilia to update its extraordinary collection which now includes 45 world titles earned in the various disciplines of motorcycle racing. Read the full article »

Aprilia has released new colors for its Dorsoduro 750 supermoto. The bike will be available in green, white and black for 2011. It’s not clear whether the new colors will be available to the US. There are no technical changes to the 2011 Dorsoduro 750 so the bike’s V-twin produces still 92hp. The engine features liquid cooling, tri-map engine management, ride-by-wire throttle control, four valves per cylinder, double overhead cam valve timing, hydraulically operated wet clutch and electronic fuel injection. The initial cull is now over. Unless there is an epidemic of insurmountable mechanical problems, the battle for overall victory should be the business of Marc Coma, Cyril Despres and Francisco Lopez. So far, the kilometres travelled have been favourable to the Spaniard, who first and foremost must be on his guard and protect the lead he possesses.
