2011 BMW F800R to get TBR VALE exhausts

Two Brothers Racing (TBR) has just announced that they finished the development of their new slip-on exhaust system to the brand new BMW F800R. The firm says owners of the new exhaust system will experience both torque and horsepower increases throughout the rev range. The exhaust system features Teflon coated, blunted, cast magnesium outlet that not only looks great but also allows for various silencer inserts. Read the full article »

BMW S1000RR Superstock Limited Edition

BMW celebrates winning the 2010 FIM Cup with victories of Ayrton Baldovini with a special edition of the S 1000 RR. The S 1000 RR Superstock Limited Edition was created by BMW Motorrad Italy exclusively for the Italian market. The special edition S 1000 RR features identifications badges on the tank with the serial number, full carbon kit by HP, carbon swingarm cover, street legal Akrapovic racing exhaust, LED turn indicators and HP adjustable footrests. Read the full article »

Official: BMW will launch two maxi scooters in November

According to Spanish motorcycle magazine Soloscooter, BMW will launch two brand new maxi scooters in November. The information comes from Hermann Bohrer, VP of BMW. Bohrer said in an interview, BMW Motorrad will reveal two maxi scooters at EICMA motorcycle show in Milan in November and they will be on sale in 2012. Rumours suggest that the two scooters will be closely related to the Concept C. BMW’s new scooters will most likely compete with the Suzuki Burgman and Yamaha T-Max. Read the full article »

2011 BMW K 1600 GT/GTL pricing revealed, starts at $20,900/$23,200

BMW Motorrad USA has announced pricing for new K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL models. The K 1600 GT will have a base price (MSRP) of $20,900, while the K 1600 GTL will have a base MSRP of $23,200. Both new models will be available for purchase through authorized BMW Motorrad USA dealers this Spring. The prices are surprisingly low, considering the old K 1200 LT retailed for $21,520, and the Japanese tourer Honda Goldwing carries a price tag of $22,899. Read the full article »

BMW Motorcycles starts new year with strong sales growth

The motorcycle division of BMW started the new year well, with strong sales growth of 24%. A total of 4,714 (prev. yr. 3,814) BMW motorcycles were delivered to customers worldwide in January 2011, continuing the steady sales growth of the previous year. BMW Motorrad recorded sales growth of 12.3 % for the full year 2010, against the overall market trend, and expanded its market share in all relevant motorcycle markets. Read the full article »

Liquid-cooled BMW R1200GS mule spotted

Spanish motorcycle magazine Solomoto was able to take a photo of BMW’s new-generation R1200 GS Adventure. The magazine claims that the new GS will feature a brand new, liquid-cooled boxer engine. Although the spy shots are poor quality, what matters is not the quality, but the news. The R1200 GS’s new engine externally looks the same, but the first thing you notice is that the final drive and shaft drive are located on the left hand side of the bike, totally backwards from the current R1200GS. Read the full article »

Rare, factory-prepared 1939 BMW R51 RS fetches over $130,000 at auction

Earlier this month in Las Vegas, a packed auction room of international buyers bid on approximately 200 motorcycles from every era of history, for a total sum exceeding $2.5 million. Six bikes made in excess of $100,000, among them a very rare, factory prepared competition 1939 BMW R 51 RS, which made $130,200 after competitive bidding from US collectors. The 1939 BMW R 51 RS is one of only two known BMW factory racers in private hands and the only unrestored pre-War ‘Rennsport’ in existence. Read the full article »

BMW Motorrad posts 2010 sales growth

The American arm of BMW announced a 4% sales growth for 2010. The Bavarian manufacturer sold 98 000 bikes globally in 2010 compared to the 87 000 units it sold in 2009, that’s a 12% increase. The best selling bike of the marque was the R1200 GS (18 700 units), and was followed by the R1200 GS Adventure ( 11 600 units), the R1200 RT (11 100 units), and the S1000 RR supersport machine (10 200 units). BMW Motorrad Italia WSBK team launches in Monza

The BMW Motorrad Italia Team, which will take part in two championships in 2011 with four riders, has been presented at the Autodromo di Monza. Britain's James Toseland (two-times WSBK champion) and last year's Superstock 1000 FIM Cup winner Italy's Ayrton Badovini will be taking part in the FIM Superbike World Championship, while the team run by Serafino Foti will also continue in Superstock 1000 with Italian Lorenzo Zanetti and last-minute addition, Frenchman Sylvain Barrier. Read the full article »
