Husqvarna unveiled the Mille 3 Concept at the 2010 EICMA show, which, according to Visordown, was the first sign that the Swedish company is planning road bikes. The British magazine reports that the manufacturer will launch the first of a whole range of road bikes in late 2011 as part of a new strategic plan. The first road machine of Husqvarna will use a 900cc parallel twin engine based on the BMW F800 models. Husqvarna could use the experience and resources of their parent company, BMW. When BMW introduced the S1000 RR back in 2009, rumours suggested that there will be a naked version. But then the manufacturer shattered these rumours, so small tuners have to do the job. So did the California-based Evoluzione Cyclesports. The naked version is equipped with raised streetfighter handlebars and integrated mirrors. The US tuner that sells tuning parts for Aprilia, Benelli, Bimota, BMW, Ducati and KTM, kept the asymmetrical headlight but removed most of the plastic. Read the full article »

The Nürburgring doesn’t need any introduction, the famous German circuit is simply legendary, Jackie Stewart once called the track the Green Hell. This historical circuit, which opened in 1927, is being threatened by a €400 million debt. The scenario is typical. From 2007-2009 the German government built a huge Leisure Park at the Nürburgring. If you are familiar with Chris Pfeiffer’s work, you know that the professional stunt rider has definitely no fear. In this latest video, the guy is running head to head with Olympic Gold Medal Bobsleder Christoph Langen in Innsbruck, Austria. In the video, Langen started at the top of the run and Pfeiffer at the bottom on his BMW G450X. Timing was critical, Pfeiffer and Langen ran each other passing side by side on one turn. In an effort to gain future success, the Bavarian manufacturer announced some changes at the superbike team. Rainer Baumel (44) is appointed Head of Race Operations, while Stephan Fischer (43) is now the new Head of Development for BMW Motorrad Motorsport. Josef Hoffmann (54) takes up the post of Managing Director with immediate effect. All three report directly to Bernhard Gobmeier, who was appointed BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director back in October. BMW introduced the new K 1600 GT at this year’s Intermot, and now, a few month later the manufacturer released a video of the bike. With the new K 1600 GT, BMW motorcycles are now available for the first time with a 6-cylinder in-line power unit developed in-house. The 1649cc six-cylinder engine delivers 160hp and 175 Nm of torque, and now we can understand why BMW didn’t put music in the video, the sound of the engine is quite impressive. Appearently, BMW Motorrad had some advertising money to waste, so they created an ad which is based on the idea of after image effect. These are practically hidden ads that are projected that is not visible to the normal eyes but register in your brain. After the ad, when you close your eyes, you are able to see the projected image, which was in this case a BMW logo. The new BMW S1000 RR is one of the fastest superbike on the market. The German bike now holds the ECTA top speed world record for 1,000cc production motorcycles, with Chad Millholland hitting 325 km/h (202mph) on a stock S1000 RR. The bike was modified by two companies – Pit Bull and KWS Motorsports. The short list of modifications: new set of camshafts, spring and retainer system, lightweight pistons and con-rods.
