American manufacturer Harley-Davidson has just announced the introduction of a new bike to its 2011 line-up. A wide front end and chunky 16-inch tire give the new Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom a proud stance that's strong and contemporary. Harley-Davidson Inc. reporded $259.7 million in income in 2010, up from $70.6 million in 2009 thanks to improved results from the company’s financial services division. Operating income from motorcycles and related products was $378.8 million for the full year, including an operating loss of $6.8 million in the fourth quarter. Retail sales of new Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the fourth quarter were nearly level with the year-ago period, decreasing 1.0 percent worldwide and 0.2 percent in the U.S. Read the full article »

Harley took the wraps off a new bike in New York last weekend, the FXS Blackline. The bike is a softail-based cruiser that features simple stling, compact headlight, and dark look. The Blackline uses the Twin Cam 96B engine which is rigid-mounted within the frame. The 1584cc motor delivers 121 Nm at 3250rpm. Aboard the Blackline, the rider hugs the frame on the lowest two-up seat ever offered by Harley-Davidson, and reaches high for new Split DragŞ handlebars that bolt right to the top triple-clamp. Harley-Davidson announced a new customization program for 2011. With the H-D1 program Harley is targeting customers that like to stand out from the crowd. The program starts 4th February, but the manufacturer already released a teaser video. Customers will be able to design their custom motorcycles through Harley’s special website, and when they need help, customization experts will be available to help advise on customization ideas. Federal Reserve’s recently revealed documents disclose who benefited from a government loan program during 2008. The data shows that Federal Reserve secretly loaned trillions of dollars to major companies including Harley-Davidson. The motorcycle manufacturer got $2.3 billion to help cover operating expenses during the economic crisis. Bloomberg says the money was from the Fed’s Commercial Paper Funding Facility, which also dispersed money to General Electric, Verizon, Barclay’s and McDonalds. Read the full article »

The Travertson V-Rex was already one of the wildest production bikes, but its updated version, the V-Rex 2 is even weirder. The 2011 version, dubbed the V-Rex 2 features a new steel subframe to support a pillion residing on the rear half of a new seat, as well as new LED taillights. The bike uses a Harley-Davidson engine and H-D electronics. The other features of the bike include digital speedometer, custom paint job and vertical chrome tank decorated in Swarowsky crystals. Swiss company H&R, in cooperation with Fat Attack Custom Bikes have developed a unique machine. Called „The One”, this bike is largely made of titanium, aluminium, carbon, and aircraft steel. During its production attention was paid to every detail to ensure that the materials used are the same as for racing. You may know Jillian Michaels from TV’s The Biggest Loser, but she is also a fitness expert, life coach, author, blogger and radio host. The trainer recently got a custom Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle designed in collaboration between Michaels and the staff of the Motor Company’s wheels. The special Muscle features polished engine cases with orange highlights, custom seat, rear fender, radiator shroud, exhaust and wheels. The V-Rod is one of the best engines in the Harley-Davidson range, delivering 115hp at 8250rpm. But some customers want even more – Wonder Customs created the Rev 2 for them. At its heart beats the 1130cc water-cooled V-twin, which makes use of a high pressure fuel pump that lives behind the custom fuel tank to ensure the engine receives its required energy.
