Recent years have seen radical changes in the world of individual mobility, specifically in the conurbations, and the number of registrations has rocketed for virtually all individual transport concepts. However, the space available to traffic has not grown to the same extent, so individual mobility must come to terms with the new circumstances. Against this background, BMW Motorrad will be expanding its present motorcycle adventure world to include the big scooter. The Piaggio Group presented the revised versions of its popular scooters, the Typhoon 50 and 125 at the Intermot 2010. Typhoon is a bit of flagship for the Italian brand and for 2011, and they are going to be even better for 2011. The 50cc and the 125cc versions will get more powerful engines, a revised design and flashy graphics. The smaller version has a 2-stroke engine which delivers a respectable 4.2hp at 6500rpm and 4.6Nm at 6000rpm. The 125cc version features a more advanced, Euro-3-compliant 4-stroke engine which priovides 9.6hp and 8.2Nm. Read the full article »

Honda will introduce a host of new colours for its current machines at the Cologne-based Intermot Show on 5 October. A number of all-new Honda models will then make their world debuts at the EICMA show in Milan from 2-7 November. The 1500sq meter Honda stand will be one of the main attractions of EICMA, where the Japanese will introduce the new Faze maxi scooter. This model is already on sale in Japan in the 250cc version, but possibly there will be a 125cc and a 300cc version. Iconic British brand MINI unveils its exciting MINI Scooter E Concept today in London. The MINI Scooter E Concept comes almost ten years to the day since the new MINI was first shown at the Paris Motor Show. There are a total of three interpretations of the MINI Scooter E Concept conceived by Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design: two of which will be shown at the Paris Motor Show next week, while the third concept, inspired by the swinging sixties, the hey day of classic Mini is being shown exclusively in London. Daimler AG has released the first official photos and technical details of the Smart electric scooter which will be unveiled at the 2010 Paris Auto Show next week. The Smart escooter is addressing customers living in big cities who are looking for a practical, unconventional way of transport. Daimler-owned Smart has released more plans for a plug-in electric scooter at the Paris Motor Show. The new motorcycle, depicted here in a couple of official sketches, is set to form part of Smart’s upcoming show spread. It’s currently uncertain when the scooter goes into production but knowing that Daimler plans to significantly broaden the Smart lineup we would say the fans of electric scooters don’t have to wait more than two years. The Japanese manufacturer launched its 2011 scooters including new X-Max special versions and range-wide design updates. Highlights for 2011 includes ABS, as well as new special Sports and Business Editions of the X-Max 125, and a Sport edition of the X-Max 250. With the introduction of optional ABS on the Yamaha X-Max 250 and X-Max 125 models, riders can enjoy enhanced control in various riding conditions. The Taiwanese motorcycle manufacturer announced three new scooter models for the 2011 model year, the 50cc Super 8 50 2T, the 200cc Like 200i and the 300cc Downtown 300i. The Super 8 50 2T is a new entry-level scooter with a 2-stroke, 49cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The second bike, the Like 200i is a larger-displacement version of the Like 50, while the Downtown 300i offers a performance of a real maxi scooter. Read the full article »

Piaggio unveiled a new edition of its three-wheeled scooter, the MP3. The special edition, dubbed the MP3 Sport, features white bodywork and contrasting black accents, 10-spoke wheels and a series of other aesthetic changes. The protective fume windshield further enhances the racing look, alongside the ergonomic saddle and red relief stitching. The special edition is available in both 300cc and 400cc variants. French manufacturer Peugeot has revealed its latest scooter, the Kisbee. The 4-stroke machine is not just the first 2011 model year scooter in Peugeot's range, but the first one with the marque's new lion logo. The scooter has a 50cc, 4-stroke engine which is clear and fuel efficient. We can travel up to 200 km (124 miles) with its 6.5 liter (1,5 gallon) tank. Read the full article »
