2015 was and is the year of customization for Yamaha. Yamaha Yard Built, the manufacturer’s custom project for European builders is up and running, another similar project was revealed a few months back and they have just revealed an app. Yamaha My Garage is a free app that allows customers to choose a bike from the Sport Heritage series (XSR700, VMAX, XJR1300, XV950 etc.) and explore all the customization options before choosing the parts you want. Yamaha joined the 250-350cc market for entry-level sport bikes with the YZF-R3. It took a bit for Yamaha to join this fray, but in a timely manner its naked 321cc MT/FZ counterpart is confirmed to be coming soon. As the summer draws to a close Yamaha is gearing up to send it off in style at the Glemseck 101 custom bike event in Germany from 4th to 6th September with a massive Yard Built presence. Motorcycle fans can expect to see a stunning line up of well known Yard Built creations from the world’s best custom builders as well as a few new surprises. Yamaha has released photos and a video of its new retro-styled production model, the XSR700. The bike is basically the production version of the concept MT-07 restyled by legendary Japanese custom-builder Shinya Kimura. The retro-looking XSR700 uses the FZ-07 platform, taking the frame and 689cc parallel-twin engine. The 2016 Yamaha XSR700 will arrive in dealerships on the continent in November and it will be available in Forest Green or Garage Metal paint schemes. Read the full article »

Last year Yamaha UK gave the UK’s biggest motorcycle weekly publication MCN an XV950 on loan. The plan for journalist Steve Hunt was to see what a relative novice could do with some bolt on parts and accessories to create his own custom build. The result is truly impressive; the Yard Built XV950 „Dangan” (Japanese for „bullet”) is a proper custom build and worthy of its place here amongst the other special Yard Built creations! The 20th anniversary of the legendary XJR1300 continues with the third Yard Built production of the year, the first collaboration from Amsterdam based custom builders Numbnut Motorcycles. The summer vibe has reached the workshops of Deus Ex Machina in Italy and influenced the latest Yard Built creation of the Milan design emporium. Yamaha has launched its new naked bike for the Indonesian market. The MT-25 is a naked streetbike featuring a 249cc parallel twin, comfortable riding position for the city and modern styling. Weighing 165kg dry, it’s a fairly light bike while the engine delivers around 35hp. If Yamaha gives the green light, the bike could be available as well as in Europe as in the U.S. Stay tuned! Yamaha has just announced a series of 2016 models, including 50, 85, 110, 125, 250 and 450cc off-road bikes. Most of the TTR and YZ models got a new colour for the 2016 model year but Yamaha did some more important changes on the YZ450F. The largest YZ now features better brakes, more mid- and low-range power, better clutch and an upgraded chassis.
