Yamaha Motor released two design concept trikes today, one for road use and the other for off-road. The design concepts are based on the twin front wheels leaning multi-wheel Tricity and are named 03GEN-f and 03GEN-x. The 03GEN-f is a sportier, more futuristic of the two, while the latter is designed with more an off-road theme. The new concepts indicate that Yamaha has further plans to develop new three wheel bikes for the market.
Yamaha has jumped on the three wheel hype train in early 2014 when they released the Tricity, a three-wheeled scooter for the European market. The guys at Yamaha seem to like the idea of three wheels since they came up with two new design concepts.

The 03GEN-f was designed with the underlying theme “Future Racing”, and it visually expresses both the futuristic feel – which is expressed by emphasizing the Leaning Multi Wheel mechanism – and Yamaha’s racing image. The scooter is made for city use, it looks like a high-tech scooter with a feet forward riding position. The 03GEN-f looks more like a concept than a production ready design.
The 03GEN-x is much more „ready” to go into production or at least that’s what we think. The 03GEN-x, with “Cross” as its underlying design theme, combines both an advanced-looking frame that exposes the three wheels and the traditional off-road design that is reminiscent of the days of unpaved roads. The 03GEN-f was exhibited at the 36th Bangkok International Motor Show last week.
